Our client is a fintech scale-up within the payments sector offering comprehensive financial solutions encompassing cross-border payments and multi-currency FX accounts, providing access to over 25 currency IBANs seamlessly integrated with our debit card. Within our ecosystem, we provide an all-in-one solution, streamlining customer onboarding for effortless access to a multitude of financial services. This includes e-commerce acquisition, cash rewards, and access to various payment rails (BACS, CHAPS, SWIFT, faster payments, and SEPA) across Europe.

Role Overview
The Payments Operations Manager will be instrumental in driving and executing the strategic vision of our Payments Operations business. The role holder will play a crucial role in ensuring our clients experience a seamless payment process, drawing upon your deep understanding of the payments landscape, you will manage daily responsibilities and spearhead initiatives. This position demands strong cross-functional collaboration and adaptability.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of payment operations across the business
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to payment processing and operations.
  • Develop and implement efficient and secure payment processes and procedures to minimize risk and maximize operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and analyse payment trends, volumes, and patterns to identify potential issues or opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage relationships with payment service providers, banks, and other external partners to ensure smooth and timely payment processing.
  • Establish and use reporting on operational metrics to ensure payments are operating effectively and analyse payment data to take proactive measures to drive payments performance metrics.
  • Manage internal operations to optimize payment transactions, employing daily and monthly reporting for performance evaluation.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as finance, risk management, and IT, to ensure alignment and integration of payment operations with overall business objectives.
  • Setup, reviewing and continuous improvement of reporting and reconciliation processes.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of payment operations staff, including training, performance management, and career development.
  • Develop and maintain payment-related policies and documentation, including standard operating procedures and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, new payment technologies, and regulatory changes that may impact payment operations, and recommend appropriate actions or enhancements.
  • Conduct periodic audits and assessments of payment operations to identify and address any compliance gaps or operational inefficiencies.
  • Address customer escalations, often necessitating direct communication with customers and providing updates through client-facing teams.

About The Desired Candidate

  • You have extensive industry experience, more recently in a managerial role
  • Experience in managing a payments, finance, treasury, collections or other operational functions.
  • You have extensive knowledge of UK Card Schemes, SEPA, SWIFT, BACS and CHAPS.
  • Proven track record for delivery of issuing & acquiring projects with card schemes.
  • You will have experience with chargebacks, transaction monitoring, Authorised Push Payment (APP) fraud, and Faster Payments Service (FPS)
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of performing client money reconciliations and building reconciliation processes
  • Experience managing technical or operational change processes
  • You have excellent Microsoft excel skills
  • You are comfortable engaging and presenting to other teams and senior stakeholders across the business to resolve queries/operational issues, sometimes within tight deadlines
  • You are structured, organised and comfortable handling competing pressures
  • You are articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • You have the desire and experience to improve processes and controls
  • You can think creatively, are driven and self-motivated
  • You have demonstrable ability to work with team members in a collegiate environment whilst independently managing your own time
  • You are comfortable working in an early stage business, where time is critical, and priorities change frequently

Salary

Salary up to £70,000
