About The Opportunity

As a member of our clients IT team, the Platform Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of cloud-based production systems and services. The Platform Engineer will be a champion of Continuous Delivery practices within the team driving modern, collaborative engineering practices to facilitate best-in-class engineering outcomes.

The Platform Engineer will provide technical advice, guidance and mentorship to other engineers within the organisation. They will act as a technical advisor in platform engineering and drive the adoption of best-practices. 


With the support of Senior Platform Engineers and the Engineering Team Lead, they will own the implementation of their work and work closely with the team to meet delivery objectives and deliver tested, secure, and compliance code.


They will be a champion of the success of the team, drive thoughtful conversation during tech huddles and retrospectives, and encourage others to develop their knowledge of modern engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively deliver on requirements, ensuring the agreed outcomes are achieved within determined timeframes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement and maintain cloud solutions that are resilient, scalable and secure
  • Contribute to the design and management of cloud infrastructures through CI/CD pipelines and automation
  • Advocate for and implement best practices for DevOps, Continuous Delivery, including automated testing (BDD, TDD), build and deployment pipelines and observability
  • Assist with technical problem solving and provide technical guidance to other engineers and team across the organisation
  • Act as a point of escalation during incidents, helping to resolve issues and risks
  • Stay up to date with cloud industry trends, technologies and market changes

About The Desired Candidate

  • Bachelor degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Software Engineering, other related certification, or equivalent on-the-job experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a cloud, platform or devops role
  • Able to work independently, self-organise and scope work and adapt to changing requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both written and verbal with the ability to present to technical stakeholders
  • Experience in designing and deploying cloud architectures, applications, and services (AWS Preferred)
  • Experience in DevOps culture and CI/CD practices and associated tooling
  • In-depth knowledge of automation, orchestration, container and serverless technologies
  • Experience in a programming language (Javascript, Python, Golang) inclusive of testing
  • Understanding of site reliability engineering, observability data types (logs, metrics and tracing) and experience with related tooling

Salary

Up to €85,000 plus bonus
